Friday is finally here! About ruddy time as well.. Got you a smooth ass mixtual recommendation today freshly posted by those superb house and disco peddlers over at The House of Disco. If you don't know the site/label already it will be well worth your time heading over to the web page here and signing up to their mailing list. The guys give out a constant stream of free track downloads always with the permission of the maker and I'm yet to hear one that hasn't gone straight in our digital record box.
The mix has been put together by German based duo Satin Jackets and is definitely one to crack on the mp3 pod for sound tracking your laid back summers afternoon (or pretending its summer at least!). Slowed up fresh jams through out on this one so make sure you give it listen.
Catch the House of Disco guys down at Corsica Studios tomorrow night (Sat - June 21st) with full details over on the RA event page here. And to anyone lucky enough to have bagged tickets for tomorrow afternoons Hush Puppies roof party, we'll see you there! Us guys and the very sexy Mr. Solid Gold will be on from 1pm. Safe weekends! Happy Tuesday people....One day closer to that weekend. In nice and early today with a hot off the press selection from the superb DJ Caspa. A master of the vinyl this man knows his way around a popping DJ set. Resident for one of our favorite South London gatherings Percolate Casper has yet to disappoint on both his live DJ sets and his regular mix tapes. His set back at Double Trouble in January was true quality and i had the pleasure of playing before him a few weeks back down at Percolate. Trust me the man knows how to get a crowd going. Club energy through out on this one keeping things skipping with quality house and garage tinged summer freshness.
You can catch Caspa this Sunday 23rd of June on The Underground sessions alongside Wolf Music's Medlar. Head on over to Caspa'a Soundcloud here for more details and get the mix on the player below. Back later in the week. O x
Wow! What a weekend that was. Chic at the Kentish Town forum followed by Trouble Vision & Tief at Found Festival Saturday. Summer is definitely here. Big love to all the Found festival crew and to any one else that joined in on the 48 hours of party. I slept very well last night! Now on to next weekend. This Saturday (22nd June) we will be joining the line up alongside fellow Trouble Vision resident Mr. Solid Gold and DJ duo Bondax for what is looking to be a very special day time session indeed.
Hosted by Hush Puppies this will be the first of their Dog Days summer parties taking place on the Rockwell House roof space in Shoreditch - East London (see the pic below). We will be warming things up most of the day with Bondax taking the headline slot later in the afternoon. The party is bring your own booze (this can be a very good thing for the wallet!) as well as having a BBQ put on by the mighty Meat Liquor..........One of London's number 1 burger joints. The roof opens at 1pm and will be running through til 7pm.
Tickets are on a apply and win basis and full details of how you can get your hands on some can be found over on the Facebook event page here. Check out Gold by Bondax on the Soundcloud player below and hopefully we will be seeing you on a Shoreditch rooftop this Saturday. O x
Happy Friday! Back today with another mix from the Trouble Vision fam. This one is from the mighty Park Ranger. One of my all time favourite mix men and collector of some of the finest records out there.
The mix has been put together for Stop Making Sense festival taking place in Croatia in July. One of the classiest festivals Croatia has to offer and Trouble Vision will be returning this year to host both Boat and club sessions. Find out more about SMS over on the web site here and start sorting those flights. It's well worth the trip! Check out Park Rangers latest offering on the mixcloud player below and for any one heading to Chic later tonight or Found Festival tomorrow we look forward to shaking a leg with you! O x
Eh up! Hope your weeks are going well. In to day with this quality mix recording from our Trouble Vision boss man Mr. Solid Gold. And what a tape it is. If you live in London then you will most certainly be aware that this Saturday Found Festival will be taking place up in East London's Haggerston park. Apart from the line up being extremely weighty there is also the added bonus that Trouble Vision and sister party crew Tief will be hosting a stage for the day. The TV/Tief stage will feature artists including Henrik Schwarz, Tim Sweaney, Floating points, Session Victim and many more (check the flyer below yo).
As with all TV events a selection of resident will be holding things down through out the day and we have the added bonus of this fresh little selection from TV head honcho Mr. Solid Gold to get you all in the mood. It is absolute quality as well. Get it on the player below and head over here for last minute festival tickets....be quick though as they are running low. We also have a little Trouble Vision afterparty session taking place at the Dance Tunnel in Dalston once the festival gates close with a very special guest heading it up. Details for that can be found here. No advance tickets left for the after party but there will be plenty on the door if you're quick. Make sure you drop by the TV/Tief stage and say hi if you are heading down. O x
A new week and a fresh selection of records. Thought I'd crack up my latest Juno chart today. A top ten of 12"s that are bursting out of my record bag. Back in the week with some fresh mixtuals for you as well.
It seems everyone is cracking out the 45 love as the summer kicks in This amazing little selection comes from one of my all time favorite spinners Floating Points. Spliced together after the Eglo records 4 year Birthday party a few days back. Sunshine jams through out on this one. Fire up the BBQ and get on down. O x
The high energy disco legend Giorgio Moroder stepped up earlier this week for what i find hard to believe, his first DJ set ever!?
As part of the Redbull studios event with Francois Ks "Deep Space" party Giorgio laid down a 74 minute set in New York City featuring a lathering of his timeless greats. I've had a listen and it is definitely packed with fire including personal favorites such as "From here to Eternity" and of course Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". Like i say, i find it hard to believe this is his first DJ set ever but with a back catalogue like his this is definitely worth a listen.
His recent collaboration with Daft Punk has brought back some well due attention to one of the pioneers of disco, techno and electronic music in general and hopefully this means we'll be hearing a lot more from the 73 year old don in the coming months. Have a listen on the player below. O x
A bit more disco today but in it's classic form. This cheeky selection mixed from original release 7 inch records only comes hot off the press direct from the studios of the legendary Larj Hans and his team the OK Jones band.
Organic, loose yet sexy as hell. Not going to say any more about this one so i suggest you crack it on loud and get on down. Look out for Larj Hans & The OK Jones Band at a festival site near you over the coming summer months. Mix on the player below and head on over to the Larj Hans Soundcloud page for more disco and funk splicings.
Easy all. Back in today after another break from the posting with this amazingly crafted mix from the one and only Skream.........And you know we love our disco.
Hats off to Skream for this one as well. Known throughout the World as one of Croydon's original dubstep pioneers it shows the true skill of the selector when they can splice together such a quality sack of disco and disco tinged edits like this.
From what we've seen on twitter and other trolling platforms it seems he's been getting a bit of stick for putting out mixes in a non "dubstep" genre or even for moving more towards house and techno in his sets. Well, to that we're with Skream all the way. Playing the same sets day in day out can get a tad boring and surely the art of the DJ set should not restrain you to the genre that you started putting out near on 8 years ago.
And too anyone that even hints at the idea that he is jumping on the Daft Punk band wagon. This man has been mixing disco for time with one set laid down at Corsica Studios many many moons ago being one of my top nights at our regular haunt.........ever.
Get it on the player below hosted by the the lovely people over at Do Androids Dance and make sure you don't miss out on any opportunity to catch Skream playing something with a little more funk over the coming festival season.
It's not about bass when you find your groove. O x
Something a touch different today. You may know that we are massive fans of the Tusk Wax label and it's always very special when the mysterious label boss - Tusk puts together a mix.
This absolute beauty of a selection has been put together by the man himself for Audio Parallax. Head on over to the site here for the reasoning behind the mix as well as an interview with Tusk. Like i said earlier. Its not what you'll expect but i have a feeling you may secretly enjoy it. Mix on the player below. This one is going out to our boy Dan. RIP bruv. x
Another fun weekend that was. Love to all the Oonst crowd for Friday night. Massive love going out to Luca Lozano and Alex Egan for coming down and laying down superb sets. Also shouts to Mr Hesselworth and the Tief massive. We dropped by Corsica studios on Saturday for what turned out to be one of the best parties of 2013 for me. An absolute belter from the one and only Henrik Schwartz and one of the best sets I've heard in a long time from today's mix recommendation creator Hunee.
I've been a fan of Hunee for a wee while now but was yet to catch a full set from him in a party environment. Saturday night was my first and i am very pleased to say it was epic. From disco rarities to pumping grooved out house and techno cuts. Hunee was one of the night makers for me. The Berliner knows a thing or two about creating a party.
Wanted to post this mix today put together by Hunne for the East London store LN-CC a couple of months back. Its a little slower at first from his usual club sets but in true mix tape style builds things perfectly from its Jazzy beginnings to the latter funk and disco perfection he was slamming out on Saturday night. It doesn't get to housey but thats not always a bad thing.
Thursday wussups all round! Sorry for the lack in posts over the past week. We've been all over the place and neglecting our web space like dogs. Hopefully we'll be able to make it up to you today and tomorrow. In today with this freshly cut house selection from our Italian Brother man Baunz.
Baunz aka Dario Vola has been smashing it of late with releases out on ModaBLACK, This IS Music, A collaboration with Little Boots out on 2020Vision and plenty more in the pipe line. We also had the pleasure of him coming down and playing a set at Oonst a few months back and what a set he laid out! This little splicing is his April installment and it is filling my Thursday afternoon with everything that i could want. Fresh rollers and deep clean house throughout. Get it on the player below and go follow the man on twitter here. O x
Happy Monday guys. Hope you all had suitably safe weekends. We are definitely feeling the Monday burn again. Shouts going out to the Beastmode crew for one hell of a party down at The Bussey Building in Peckham on Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed our set,and highly recommend checking out their next installment in the not so distant future. In today with two quality recordings. The Pushamann - Rinse FM show
The second Rinse installment from the Pushamann today. Recorded at the Rinse studios a couple of weeks back and packed with the usual house quality that The Pushamann brings to the floor every time round.
We're really loving the switch up coming through from Rinse FM recently with new shows from peeps including Horse Meat Disco, Tief's Mr Hesselworth and of course Charles Kerr AKA The Pushamann. It really shows that they are making an effort to keep things fresh and with such talent stepping up its working a treat. Get the show on the jump here or on the url below if the interwebs being difficult.
http://podcast.dgen.net/rinsefm/podcast/ThePushamann060413.mp3 Hannah Holland - Gouge Away mix Another mix tape treat today from the very talented Hannah Holland. The Batty Bass boss lady brings it in in typical style on this splicing with fresh as death house cuts through out. Featuring tracks from Few Nolder, Dan Beaumont, and an unrelease jam from her good self - "Glass Lin".
Get it on the Soundcloud player below with full track listing over on the Soundcloud page. Check out more from Hannah over on Hannah's Facbook page here.
