Played heads up.......

Just a quick cheeky post and mix today to give you all the heads up on the Played terrace party coming up next month. Us London folk don't get many opportunities to rave it up in the summer sun so make sure you get your tickets in for the 9th of July.
Seriously smooth house is on the cards from Phonica's Hector, Jordan Peak, Alex and Digby and the man Osky.

Full party details on the Resident Advisor event page here and tickets available for a tenner here.

Also get an ear wag to the mix at the bottom of the post put together by Jordan Peak for the DJ mag podcast series.

DJ Sneaks #7 Mike Sunda

Formerly London-based, we met Mike as co-promoter of East London club night Playdoh as well as working on the team behind London music festival Stag & Dagger back in 2010. We realised the man has a fine taste in tunage and any DJ set we've caught of his in the past has been spot on, so we're pretty happy to have him step up with a favorite pair of kicks and a freshly stewed mix for us.

Photobucket

Now having temporarily re-located to Tokyo, Mike is keeping busy and regularly hitting the decks at some of the cities top dance music clubs, including Club Asia, Axxcis, Loop, Module, Trump Room and more. As well as having played alongside many of Japan's biggest club-scene staples, including 80kidz, Dexpistols, Taku Takahashi and DJ Kyoko, Mike is also deeply involved in the city's upcoming bass scene. For the Japanese readers and listeners check out his blog here

Mike's Kicks-
Original by Originals here. A superb colab between Adidas and designer Kazuki Kuraishis's line ObyOKZK . Kazuki Kuraishis also enlisted the help of Hong Kong creative collective CLOT for the production of this smooth as fook rework of the Superstar 80.

Photobucket

The Adidas Superstar has been in production since 1969 and is truly one of the most iconic basketball kicks on the planet. Nicknamed the shell toe the shoe was a low version of the Adidas pro model and the NBA's most popular shoes in it's release years. It was then given the world respected street fame that it holds to this day on the feet of Hip Hop legends in the early 1980s. Run DMC can take a large proportion of the props for this, their endorsement deal with Adidas being one of the earliest hip hop endorsements from a major corporation.
Mike got this pair free at an Adidas-sponsored show in Japan last year which is a serious foot ware win if you ask me. Mike says "I Don't normally go for low tops but I like the old-school vibes on these, and it's easy to keep em looking clean"........Standard.

Mike's Mix -

A seriously tight selection here consisting of the tracks mike is currently feeling including a few by some of his favourite producers based over Tokyo (BD1982, Eccy, Jesse Ruins) which we are definitely going to dig a little deeper into.
Get a listen on the Mixcloud player below or the DL link below that.

2 Bears "Bear Hug" Ep Launch @ The Nest

Almost the weekend again and we have another hype party to look forward to this Friday at The Nest, Dalston.
We touched on this at the end of last week in so we thought we should give you the full deets.

The 2 Bears, aka Raf Daddy and Joe Hot Chip will be launching their latest Ep The "Bear Hug" Ep with a riotous gathering at club night Scandalism taking place this Friday the 13th at Dalston's favorite rave den The Nest.
We are super hyped to be on the bill alongside the mighty Toddla T, Ayah Marar (Live), Stripes, Union and of course The 2 Bears.

Photobucket

Unfortunately no sound clip of the Ep itself yet (Out on Southern Fried on the 30th May) but we have heard some seriously good things. The 4 track Ep includes the track's "Take a look around" feat star to be Alice Gold and Raf's own laid back vocals followed up by instrumental jump up feast "In My Brain Is Like A Computer". The EP title Track "Bear Hug" is next up and the closer comes in the form of "Banger" a track that obviously needs no description.

Photobucket

To make up for the lack in Bear Hug audio clips we've posted a Soundcloud player below featuring the most recent 2 Bears remix jams including their upcoming remix of Toddla T and Shola Ama's fiya "Take It Back" and their superb remix of Ben Westbeech's "Falling" that has been getting some serious playage in our sets recently.

Enjoy and see you at the Nest on Friday for the weekend kick off.

Franky Redente Free mix and Track download

As we keep reiterating on here, our boy Franky Redente has been very busy of late. He provided us with our 5th DJ Sneaks mix back in March as well as a mix back in February and it seems he's churning them out (Each of them fresher than the last may we note) with another mix for April/May just dropping into our inbox.

Photobucket

His busy schedule has also included a number of fresh tracks being finished which we had a sneaky listen to last week and they are definitely something to look forward to as well as a cheeky free download of his re-edit of the Masters At Work 1993 classic "I Can't Get No Sleep" that he has also sent over for us to post with his latest mix creation.

Get on the download of both from the Soundcloud players below as soon as you can. We've also posted a YouTube vid of the original Masters At Work track to get you on a right 90s jam tip for the rest of the afternoon.

Time for another Garms with no arms post. And it's always a pleasure to alert you to a must have bit of shirtage when it is at such a bargain price and limited in production as well.

We love The 2 Bears, their housey house gems have been some of our favorite releases of the past year. The 2 Bears, a collaboration between Raf Rundell (Greco Roman Sound System) and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), both highly establish DJs and producers in their own right make some seriously soulful yet tough house music with their love of Chicago house, hip hop and garage shining through in their productions.

Photobucket

Hear No Evil and Oonst launch Party @ XOYO London + Kenton Slash Demon Mix

The time has finaly come. Two Months ago after 4 years of our monthly party Superfilth we decided to close up shop and concentrate on new projects, and that new project is now ready for lift off.

Oonst our (Robin, Myself and Mr Arrowstothesky) new party launches tomorrow night (Friday 6th May 2011) at London's superb space XOYO. Oonst will be launching in room two with room one being in the highly trained hands of London based Music Consultancy Hear No Evil.

And what a line up we have to look forward to. Heading up room 1 Ninja Tunes signed Austrian keyboard wizkid Dorian Concept will be performing live, Showcasing his new material on Ninja Tune and Affine Records. Other room one heavyweights include Night Slugs signed Mosca, Hear no evil producers Si Begg and Throwing Snow... two producers taking things over in their respective electronic scenes right now and more importantly for this post as we have been sent a superb mix over by them.... Danish Duet Kenton Slash Demon.

Oonst in Room two alongside us and Arrowstothesky we welcome the exceptional sounds of DJ/ Producer Deadboy, a set from Trouble Vision head boy Mr Solid Gold as well as a smooth opening session from selector extraordinaire Guy Rolfe.

We also have a cheeky concessions list available so email your names over to guestlist@hearnoevil.tv for cheap entry. Drinks will be a meager £2 from 9 - 10:30 in the Oonst room for the early arrives so drop in and sup wussup.

Kenton Slash Demon Mix.

Photobucket

Copenhagen based, Kenton Slash Demon's sound is both organic and futuristic and goes way beyond the confines of standard dance music. German music magazine De:Bug has describe it as "house music as Indian free jazz opera" which goes some way towards explaining why such varied DJs/producers as Claude Von Stroke, Hot Chip, Gold Panda and Brodinski count themselves as fans.

The mix below was put together as podcast number 44 in the Trace a Line website series. A seriously eclectic mix of high end dance and electronic music. Make sure you download it and get a listen in preparation foir tomorrow night.

Also check out the below video for the Kenton Slash Demon Track "Sun". One of my personal favorites from the duo. Smooth as fu*k summer house and clearly demonstrating another card to their eclectic production pack without compromising their more intellectual production sound. The video features iPhone footage of a one of Kenton Slash Demons Swedish shows.

And for those that can make it, see you tomorrow at XOYO.
