Missed Mixtuals - Bicep + Andy Williams

Sorry for the lack of Friday Mixtuals for you last week. A day away from the pooter screen meant we couldn't get them up here for you. So this week we thought we'd showcase two of the freshest ones we've heard in a few days.

Bicep - DJ History Mystery Mix

First up is this crackingly wonderful selection of house music from the lads over at Bicep. These guys are some of our favorite selectors and producers of the moment with their blog site "Feel My Bicep" here also keeping peeps informed to some of the freshest edits and remixes out there.

Photobucket

The mix has been put together for DJ History as part of the Mystery Mix series. No track list for you as that would spoil the fun. Get it on the Soundcloud player below.

Andy Williams - Lovebox Jukebox #13

Second up is a fresh Mix for the Lovebox Jukebox from Andy Williams. We featured Andy's last mix put together with the Lovebox residents "Hot Blood" back in January which took us on a trip through all that inspires the boys behind the festival.

This one however is more to Andy's own taste taking you on a trip through driving tech house beasts filled with techno glitches. Featuring jams from Trentemoller, Mark Knight and Dean Newton.

Get it on the player below and track list below that. Download also available over on the Soundcloud page alongside a mini interview from the man himself as well as all other Lovebox ifno over on the web site here

Tracklist:

Trentemoller - Prana
Orchidee - Loco Dice (Funktional Edit)
Komytea - 9 (Funktional Edit)

Mark Knight - Shogun

Friday Mixtuals - Pelski + Coat Of Arms + Creed & Stone

As promised we're back with three top level mixes for this week's Friday mixtuals. Really spoilt for choice here as each mix is a right beaut. I've had all of them playing on constant rotation over the past few days. Definitely all well worth downloading on to your players and they're also going to leave you trying dig out a weighty bag load of tracks.

First up every ones favorite blogger Pelski steps up with his latest splice.

Pelski - "House & Disco Fix #1".
Proving that he can mix like a goodun as well as having a very sharp ear, Pelski serves up a top class mix of laid back disco funk and groove laden house treats.

Photobucket

Stand out selections on this one including Dave Allison's "Soda Pop" prove he's on the ball when it comes to treating us to hard to find gems. Check it on the Soundcloud player below with a fresh download link here and track listing over on the Soundcloud page here.

Coat Of Arms - "February - March 2012 Mix"

With Eats Everything taking over the World and Chris James busy slamming out jam after jam you may be forgiven for overlooking their joint Project "Coat of Arms. Their debut record and massive Summer groove "Is this something" was a staple number in pretty much every DJ set i heard towards the end of last year.

Photobucket

The boys have recently joined Future Boogie on the bookings front so hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of them as a duo over the nearing festival season. Check out the mix on the Soundcloud player below. Packed with Coat of Arms material taking you smoothly through a selection of sub ridden house and deep treats. Download also available here.

Creed & Stone - Sping Mix- 2012

Fresh from the Jackmode Berlin Office Creed & Stone have mixed us another big one. After meeting back in the Spring of 2011 their work for Klasse Recordings and Jackmode Agency brought together two chaps with a love for Berlin's underground house scene. Dickon Stone and James Creed decided to combine production, selection and DJ blendation skills and under the suitably appropriate name Creed & Stone haven't looked back since.

Photobucket

Filled with Deep percussive rollers, this one brings a slightly darker feel to the table but without loosing an inch of groove. Take an earful on the player below with download link also available over on the Soundcloud page.

Also below that check out James Creeds Solo release debut on Klasse Recordings - "The Soft Parade Ep" on the Soundcloud palyer at the bottom of the page. It's out now and available in all good download stores.

DJ Sneaks #20 Too Many T's

Yes yes!

Finally back with another DJ Sneaks and hopefully a selection of superb mix tapes later in the week.

This DJ Sneaks edition we're bringing in the Hip Hop. Fresh from the Camberwell streets......well maybe a comfy bench in the Camberwell Tiger (South London's finest boozer for those that don't know).

Photobucket

Too Many T's step up this time round with a mix spliced together by their occasional collaborator and DJ on hand Mr Biscuits. But first a little bit about the boys themselves.

Too Many T's.... aka Ross Standaloft and Leon Rhymes are two lovable cheek mongers of an Emcee duo. After forming in the summer of 2011, Too Many T's have been gaining attention from all directions with their tight but tongue in cheek take on rap all laid down over real sounding funk and Sesame street soul influenced hip hop beats. Check out the below video for their track "Medina life" to get an example of this if my use of descriptives above has left you a little lost. The video recorded in on the streets of Marrakesh last Spring and released in December it definitely gives you an idea of what the boys are about.

The Kicks.
Was pretty hyped to get Too Many T's to step up for the kicks mix as i know Leon Rhymes is a bit of a trainer addict as well. Up Towns all the way with Leon selecting a pretty different pair of Nike Air Force 1s for show and tell. Here's his bit about them.....

"Trekking around New York's Lower East side looking for some fresh kicks at the end of 2011 I stumbles across these fresh AF1s in a vintage store - unworn but without the box - in perfect size and had to have em. Love the double set of red and pink laces and the splatter mid soles to give it that extra pop. Now i know they were release in 2008 and it turns out they're Supremes - and women's - but I'm now in touch with my feminine side, and anyway, they look fresh as fook"

Photobucket

The Mix -

A corker of a mix laid down from a selection of Too Many T's influential jams. Mr Biscuit brings the skills in big time as well, with every track cut, rubbed and mixed too a T....
Featuring classic Eric B and Rakim right through to classic UK beauts by artists including Jehst and Foreign Beggars. Most definitely one for the download. Check it on the Soundcloud player below also featuring the DL link.

Find more deets on Too Many Ts on the links below and for the London crew check out their high energy live show, Friday the 9th March at the Hoxton Pony, Shoreditch.

Artworks Amsterdam, Throwing Snow XLR8R mix, J Dilla tribute tape

Sorry for the small amount of content recently, the last few weeks have been rather busy and our broken promises of a new DJ Sneaks and all the rest have been noted so we'll try and pick things up for you soon.

A few little nuggets to make you aware of today.

Artworks Amsterdam
Firstly we're going to be in Amsterdam this Thursday (16th Feb) laying down some tunes at the Artworks exhibition and after party. The exhibition itself will be featuring work by Super A, M Jay, Collin Van Der Sluijs and Rutger Termohlen. We'll be joining the Hear No Evil team in providing beats along side Throwing Snow and Blende. Check out Ross Throwing Snow's XLR8R mix from January over on the XLR8R site here for some serious tune selection as well as a number of his own Jams.

It's Our first trip to the Dam so any Dutch readers out there drop by and say hello. Heard big things about the Artworks exhibition parties. RSVP here - exhibition@glassworksamsterdam.nl for entry with full deets of the event here and the exhibition flyer below.

J Dilla - A Tribute to the Drum.
Made aware of this by the missus so props to her for for alerting your ears to this one.
Last week was the anniversary of the passing of one of hip hops greatest producers.

James Sewitt Yancey aka J Dilla was one of the true masters of the MPC. His beats are the basis of what hip hop is to me and his productions for a Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Erykah Badu and many many more are some of the greatest examples of smooth soulful sampling ever laid down .
The below is a collection of influenced tributes and Dilla remixes that you need on your music player and it's all up for free download.

And as i said earlier, more posts, mixes and general banterbury to come soon so hold tight.

Going to finish with this.

DJ Sneaks #18 Two Charming Men

Another fresh DJ Sneaks mix and pic today sent through from our Irish friends Two Charming Men.
The boys are busy as ever working hard in the studio with remixes upcoming on Top Billin for
Lorcan Mak and MiSK as well as a number of originals now available on their Soundcloud here.

Photobucket

As well as the production tip the guys aka Niall
D'arcy and Conor Conroy have also been assisting Irish dance music heart throb (thought I'd slip that in) Lorcan Mak on the build up to his label launch for Stay Hungry Records, keep an eye out for stuff dropping on SHR soon.

The Kicks.

Photobucket

Superb pair of retro re release Nike Air Pegasus 89s which i believe belong to Niall. The Pegasus first made popular in the early 90s has seen a big
resurrection recently with the retros dropping in a number of new colour ways and it's similarity in style and popularity to the Air Max 90 meaning there's likely to be more colours to come.

The Mix.

Stuart Braybrooke November Mix

Got this tasty mix session sent through from Stuart Braybrooke earlier this week. Thought I'd post it up for you as it is one hell of a quality mix, extremly tight and also features a number of his own production works. A peak time boucer this one so get it on loud if you're planning on heading out this evening.

Stuart is also one of the first
DJs to pull me to the House music side. His relentless battle to bring quality house music nights to the towns of Ipswich and Colchester managed to capture me as a young fresh faced 18 year old working the bar tender rounds of Ipswich after stumbling my way out of high school a good few years back ( I think it was the dropping of DJ Sneak's "Fix my Sink" at his night F.U.N.K.Y that snagged me).

Photobucket

Stuart has a serious
repertoire behind him when it comes to gracing the wheels of steel. Starting his career in the mid 90s with residencies at pretty much all the clubs and house venues worth mentioning back in my home town of Ipswich as well as in his home town of Colchester. With appearances at far too many venues and parties to list since. Including playing as part of Fat Boy Slim's Palookaville tour and more recently a 3 month 8 gig stint in Ibiza. Any way, get on over to his web site here and check out his upcoming gigs as well as a chunk full of his own productions. Make sure you get a listen to his most recent Amsterdam inspired November 2011 mix on the Soundcloud player below. Track listing also below the player. I've cracked in a YouTube play of "Fix My Sink" below that as well as it's a tune that needs posting.

Exhibition is back for it's second instalment tonight at the Star Of Kings, London. With special guests including the very talented Casino Times (we had them down to Oonst last week and they smashed it), Hyper Dub signed Ossie, blog king Pelski and a good few more. Photobucket

More importantly Djs and clothing Brand Yoghurt Warrior (aka Jimmy Herrtage (sharkbait) & James Levey) will also be gracing the Exhibition floor again alongside launching they're new Yoghurt Warrior designed Hush House Ts at the event. If you don't know of Hush House get on over to their site here and check out the empire these little bass monkey have been creating over the past few years. Yoghurt Warrior will be selling the Ts on the night as well as showcasing their new range. Well worth a sneaky peak. Hush House are known for they're sweet Ts but i think this has to be my favorite so far. DJ Sneaks #17 Si Tew + New Album

Back again with a fresh DJ Sneaks Mix for you today from UK producer and Dj Si Tew.

We got sent through Si's new album "When The Clouds Ran Away" a few weeks back and after the first very impressive listen we decided to see if the man likes his kicks. Turns out he indeed does and he's sent us over a superb DJ Sneaks edition as well as the album preview below that.

<span class=

We're loving the album a lot, with a perfect laying out of atmospheric electronic sounds, hip hop freshness and general soulful goodness. Get on a preview listen of the album at the bottom of the page and go buy it. Its out now on Atzjazz records and after a listen on the below Soundcloud player i think you'll agree it is definitely worth your pennies

Si's Kicks.

Another very nice pair of air max 90s to the Sneaks catalogue. From the mad but very cool colour scheme on these I'm guessing they are custom IDs but let me know if I'm wrong there. Good to see they are getting worn as well.

<span class=

Si sent a wee quote over with the pic as well.

"I love a bright pair of air max, even though these are a little mashed up they are still getting worn on the daily!"

Si's Mix-

A great selection once again taking things off the usual run of housier stuff we post with most DJ Sneaks editions. Si's mix is as eclectic in tracks as his album sounds which really shows where he's coming from musically. Definitely one for playing out loud.

Get a listen on the Mixcloud player below with Track listing available on the Mixcloud site

Si Tew - "when the clouds ran away"

A full listen to this is a must. Make sure you get over to Si's web site here and grab yourself a copy.
