Tief at Corsica Studios this Saturday

Back from Barcelona and still alive.....Just.

Off Sonar treated us very well this year and massive shouts need to be thrown out there for both Innervisions and Wolf & Lamb. Two of the best open air parties i have ever been too. Perfect settings and music too match. Sonar moment goes to Todd Terje for dropping "Love is in the air". What a day.

Also shouts going out to the Big Chill Bar, Brick Lane who had us down for our first "Presents" party on Friday night. Guesting for the first hour, Michael Mara took it in perfectly before we stepped up for our first 3 hours set in a long while. A lot of fun was had and love to all the people who came down.Hold tight for the date of round 2 coming soon.

Tief -

It's time to get deep in a German accent again. Tief returns to the mighty Corsica Studios this Saturday for what must be one of its most tidy line ups yet.

We're very excited about this one so will be rolling down for a night of shandy's and streamers. Here's a run down of why you need to get on that ticket and head down Elephant and Castle this weekend.

French house legend Pépé Bradock heads the set sheet this time round for what is looking to be a very exciting night. Known for crafting deep but experimental tracks without loosing the dance floor edge Bradock is considered as one of the most consistent and respected producers of his time.

Also on the musical listings for this one is Germany's Soundstream. Every time you see the Soundstream logo on the centre of one of those 12" waxy things make sure you pick it up. This man knows how to lay down a groove using nowt but his drum machine, cheeky string samples and a lick of pooter wizardry. We're massive fans and from one play of the below you probably will be soon also.

We actually posted this one last week but here it is again for those that missed out. Tief pod cast 006 comes from number three on this weekends billing -Manuel Tur.
Have a listen on the Soundcloud player below for a slice of his mix tape fried gold.

Also on the bill this Saturday (sorry, I've ran out of time so can't spoil you with anymore links) -

Erdbeerschnitzel (live)
Leisureware

And of course Residents -

Hesseltime
Mr Solid Gold
Thick As Thieves

Get on the presales here to save a few quid and the miss out the dreaded last minute panic and we'll hopefully see you there for some shape tossing.

Thought we'd get this one up on here today as it coincides with the release of Mr Edit Murphy's latest workings. "Need You" is now out on Smoke N' Mirrors and also features a quality re working from Pillow Talk.

Check the release on the Soundcloud player below and head on over to Beatport here or any other good mp3 retail houses to purchase yourself a copy.

Tuesday Mixtual - Disclosure - "Fact Mix 327"

Like promised, we're going to try our damned hardest to get a mix up here for you every day this week. Well until Thursday at least as we will be on our way to Barcelona Thursday afternoon and not in any state to make any post worth checking out.

Today we're going to crack up this amazing mix from Disclosure put together for the Fact mix series a couple of months back. The Disclosure boys have been busting it out recently with their Jessie Ware remix getting huge attention, a superb live mix stream via Mix Mag and of course the Fact mix itself cementing them as one of the ones to watch out for this Summer.

The mix is packed with loads of our favourite current jams including a big old dollop of original Disclosure material. Definitely a mix to pull you out of that Tuesday drag.

Friday Mixtuals - Manuel Tur "Tief 006" & Crazy P "Mountains Mix"

Friday already. This week and all of it's 3 working days has flown by so here's some fresh mix tape fodder to get you in the mood for the weekend.

Manuel Tur - "Tief 006"

Stepping up for the 6th episode in the Tief night mix series is German producer Manuel Tur. The man him self will also be gracing the DJ box at the next Tief party taking place on the 30th June at Corsica studios. The release of his first Long Player "Swans Reflecting Elephants" on Jimpsters Free Range label a few months back has shown us he can cover all basis when it comes to the more intelligent end of dance music with the album covering sound scape electronics through to his his more recognisable driving house and techno edged slices.

Check out his Tief lay down on the below Soundcloud player and also check here for more deets of Junes Tief party with guests including Pepe Bradock, Soundstream, Erdbeerschnitzel, Leisureware and of course Manuel Tur.

Crazy P - "Mountains Mix"

This amazing mix from the Crazy P crew was put together for Mix mag a few weeks back in preparation of their appearance at Bulgaria's Meadows in the Mountains festival. London collective Crazy P are most definitely one of my top summer sound trackers with their DJ and live sets splicing together the highest quality funk and soul soaked house.

Along with the mix being fresher than some freshly shelf plucked fabreeze i also thought we'd get this one up to alert you to the fact that the Crazy P Sound system will be swinging back to London for a full night of funk this Saturday. Joined by Mario Basanov, PBR Streetgang and Felix Dickinson amongst others the Crazy P family will be taking over a secret London warehouse space for their first London return since the sell out Koko gig back in March. Get on over to the RA page here for tickets and crack on the below mix for some funking good Friday sounds.

Mid Week Mixtuals

Jubilicious! It's only bloody June already it is. Huge shouts to the Play Fest crew for having us along to play the Pow tent on Sunday and a massive big ups to the guys at Bless from Saturday night as we thoroughly enjoyed our first set at Dalstons new venue Birthdays.

On to the mid week noise as it's only a short week and you probably need some mid week pick me ups.

Mr Solid Gold  goes to Paris Trouble Vision Mix
First up is this delightful little slow stepper and smooth house mix from Trouble Vision captain Mr Solid Gold.
The mix has been put together as promo for the upcoming Trouble Vision jolly to Paris taking place at Machine Du Moulin Rouge on the 22 June with guests including Jimmy Edgar, Paul Woolford, A Made Up Sound, Dark Sky and Mr Solid Gold himself. Check out the face book event here for full details and get the mix on the Soundcloud player below the flyer.

Justin Martin - Fabric Promo Mix
An absolute beauty hot off the Fabric press from Dirty Bird don Justin Martin here. We've always had a lot of love for Justin and his new album Ghettos and Gardens a great example of why. A serious selection of club ready house and bass as well as some ice fresh cuts such as the incredible "Don't go". A track that each of my house mates has had on solid repeat for about 2 weeks now. Get a listen to the below if you need to perk up your afternoon and we'll hopefully be back with more later in the week.

Friday Mixtuals - Too many to mention

Summer is most definitely here. An epic Trouble Vision session awaits us tonight with John Talabot, Tensnake, Waifs And Strays plus many many more hitting the wheels of steel, so looking forward to catching up with any one heading down there later.

First up...The boys at Disco Africa step up with another afro infused house and funked up treat for their latest mix recorded for the upcoming Echo festival

Kitsch & Sync returns on the 16th June for another session with very special secret guests. Get on over to the Facebook event here for more details and subject your ears to the quality house music they peddle on the latest Kitsh & Sync podcast below.

Midland brings in the true art of the mix tape on his latest splice for Little White Earbuds. Head on over to the site here for a real gem of a mix tape.

Up next a perfect selection of house with a hint (just a hint) of bass from Picture House aka Harry Benson for the Gravy. This one got me through the start of the week and will equally take you out of it in style too.

And i thought i'd also add this one as one of the greatest essential mixes of all time.
Enjoy and safe weekends!

Glasgow Underground Spring/Summer sampler Feat. Franky Redente

So we're back. More mixes to come later in the week but thought we'd get back into things with this little treat, released last week on Glasgow Underground featuring our good buddy Franky Redente.

The release itself is a Spring/Summer sampler featuring fresh materials from Kevin McKay, Small Pyramids (his track "The Music" from the sampler is up for free download on the soundcloud player link), Admin and of course our Boy Franky.

London based Italian Franky (also one half of duo Photo 51) has spliced together a serious funked up yet driving house track for this release and the Kevin McKay edit featured lays it all out perfectly. check it on the Soundcloud player below and head on over to Phonica for the vinyl release here.

He's also been kind enough to send us over a exclusive first free download of his track "You cover me with edits" an atmospheric deep water cut which will be sure to suck in the late night dance floor.
Listen and Download on the Soundcloud player below and check out more from Franky here and on Twitter here

Deany Seagulls - Stop Making Sense mix

Not long now until we return to the beautiful shores of Croatia along with the rest of the Trouble Vision family for 2012s Stop Making Sense session. This year is looking to be another amazing festival with a new and improved festival site and line up announcements including Deetron, Move D, Jay Shepheard and many many more meaning we are certainly in for a treat.

Definitely one of the top overseas festivals with Chris and the SMS family really knowing how to hold down a proper shindig in the sun. Get over to the SMS site here for full line up and ticket info and get on to those flights while they are still cheap!

Deany Seagulls - Territorial Behaviour Mix
Thought we'd post this perfect summer day time selection put together by Stop Making Sense resident and king of the eclectic groove tape Deany Seagulls for Pulse Radio.

Deany's sets were meant to played in the sunshine, preferably over a paradise beach setting and he certainly brought in the afternoon pre rave noisings with style at last years festival. Crack on the below and start dreaming of cocktails in the Croatian sun. We can't ruddy wait!

Monday's recommended mixtuals.

Straight into the new week with some fresh stand out mixes for your ears.

Lay-Far - Keep it Deep guest mix
Got this one through on recommendation just in time for my Friday afternoon trip home from work and it is probably the main cause of an intentional quiet (for once) Friday night turning into a 5am finisher.

This mix has been put together for German bloggers Keep-it-deep by Moscow based Dj/producer and Headz.fm member Alexander Lay-Far. Well worth a download with funked up sounds laid down alongside quality house and disco slices. Get it on the Soundcloud player below.

Check out the Dirty Byrds family's next event taking place on the 11th May at Stoke Newington's Question Mark Bar.

Medlar (Wolf Music) - Tief 005
One more for you today coming from the lads at Tief. I'm off on my US road trip later this week so am a little upset to be missing their next session at Corsica studios. However i will definitely be taking this mix on the ipod player to remind me of the fun everyone will be having without me.

The mix, number 5 in the Tief series has been put together by Wolf Music's Medlar featuring a number of productions from artists who will be appearing at the next Tief session including  Chicago Damn, Casino times and of course Medlar himself.

DJ Sneaks #21 Arveene & Misk

Been a good few weeks since we've posted anything as things have been pretty busy so we thought we'd crash back into it with a fresh DJ Sneaks mix from Dubliners Arveene and Misk as well as a bit of Sneaker chat with ya man Arveene.

Photobucket

Now I'm pretty hyped to get this one up as Arveene is one serious collector of trainers. Been meaning to post this for a few weeks now but the toils of life have drained all my precious time which is a shame as it would have been even better to get this mix out fresh from the platters.

Anyway, a bit about the boys....
Arveene and Misk hail from Dublin and certainly know there way around a DJ set. I first caught wind of one half of  this immaculate talent (Arveene) many moons ago when a new face on the turn tables of The End at the sorely missed Monday night Durrr session slipped in a ridiculously epic (and pre X factor hype) remix of Rage's Killing in the Name of. If i remember correctly the young chap behind the booth then passed Robin a promo CD featuring the remix and so his legend began..... That tune was definitely hammered in our sets for many months after.

Nowadays the boys with their combined powers are keeping themselves very busy. With past remixes for the likes of Kitsune, The Prodigy, Felix The House Cat and Mr Oizo to name just a few they certainly like to shake up the genre pot. Their own original material has also been recieving alot of attention with their track "Love and Lust" from last year being a particular favorite of mine (definitely worth checking the video as well )  Get on over to their Soundcloud page here for more of a taste of what they do.

The Kicks.

Photobucket

Now like I've already said, Arveene likes his footwear and he's sent us over a pic of some very tasty Nike Air Max 1s. I'm going to leave you with the image below and a few words from the man himself about them -

"I've always been a fan of sneakers from as far back as i can remember. My dad used to rock a pair of wine Adidas 'Summits' when i was a kid in the 80's(which i wish were still mine).
They were fresh in that classic 80's way and I remember clearly thinking when can i get a pair like those bad boys. I'm all about Adidas and Nike. I developed a sneaker habit in the
early 00's and got seriously addicted to Nike Prestos with the Rainbow Presto being the only pair of prestos i could never find in my size ( a Large if anyone has a pair willing to sell).
Ok enough about lost conquests.. I'm all about he Air Max 1, They are now the heart and Soul of my collection and the one pair i'm constantly on the look out for classic colour ways
and well cut pairs. The Aztec or Navajo tickets all the right boxes for me I've also been obsessed with Pendelton Woolen Mills in the states for time and they have the freshest and
most original Native American Prints. So for me this is a no brainer that had my blood rushing and my addictive personality twitching till i made the purchase.. Big Up to the Dudes
at Size Dublin for keeping my collection in check with these particular bad boys..."

The Mix -
Pumping house and electronic beasts through out on this one featuring their own recent club battering ram "Hells Bells 2012". Get a listen on the soundcloud player below with track listing below that. Check Arveene And Misk out on Facebook here and twitter here

Crepe City Video + Amara Por Dios

Look back at the Crepe City Event
Just a quick post to show you a short video put together with footage from last Sunday's Crepe City Sneaker sale at Bar Music Hall London. The video has been put together by James Measom and is soundtracked by AZ's "The Come Up".

Thought the rainy weather may hold a few people off but it wasn't the case. A superb afternoon of kicks and music. Make sure you keep an eye out for details of the next event coming up in the summer and big ups to Crepe City for all the hard Work.

Crepe City | London from James Measom on Vimeo.

Something else i thought you may want to check out below.

Amara Por Dios
Swedish artist/designer Amara Por Dios has some seriously cool things for you to check out and buy on her website here. Mixing up bold colours, sneaker culture and a splashing of South American/Aztec imagery has resulted in an amazingly fresh and fun portfolio. Have a look at the T design below featuring an image of the classic Jordan 3 white cements. I want one of these a lot.
