Exhibition this Friday + Synamatix mix

Hope every one had a suitably massive Bank holiday weekend? Big love to the Urchins for having us along to play Just London on Friday night. Following that a standardly huge Trouble Vision got the weekend in to swing and a stop by the Red Bull party on Monday at Carnival topped off another amazing "semi official" end to the summer.

Coming up this weekend. Our party Oonst will be returning to XOYO this Saturday the 3rd September but more on that to come in the next few days. Today we thought we'd alert you to this Fridays Exhibition party at the Star of Kings Cross.

Photobucket

Exhibition #1 is the first of many Exhibition nights that will be showcasing up and coming street ware fashion labels alongside some of the freshest new stars in dance music. Hearing good things about the Star of Kings Cross as a venue and with this tasty little line up the party is on to being a winner.

DJs at the launch include hyped youngsters Hackman, Graphics, Synamatix (who also provides us with the mix at the bottom of the page) as well as every bodies favorite blog man Pelski who has transferred his writing skills exceedingly smoothly to the DJ decks over the past summer.

On the clothing front there will be items to view and for sale from LNUK, Beg Designs and our favorite T shirt brand of Summer 2011 Yoghurt Warrior.

Get a listen to the launch party mix on the mixcloud player below put together by Synamatix. Synamatix, founder of Deadplate records as well as member of my favorite trainered up web site The daily street brings it proper on this 1st in the Exhibition mix series, taking on house, garage and bass in a standard Synamatix seamless manner.

Crack it on loud and get over to the Exhibition #1 Facebook event page here for full deets.

DJ Sneaks # 14 Tony Volker

So, we thought we'd try something a little different. We've got a couple of mixes coming up over the next few days that are not our usual house fodder. Obviously the House music is still our staple diet but as stated by our good buddy Sam whilst relaxing on the beach at Stop Making Sense festival - " Have you got anything that isn't House?" So here you go.

First up is a mix tape from the immensely talented Tony Volker. Tone has spent the last few years secretly slipping off to his bed room to produce the most amazingly charming acoustic based music.

Photobucket

We were always aware of his love of the guitar and knew he could knock a tune together. But he quietly let known to us a few months back that he has put a selection of his favorite bedroom creations in one place resulting in a
genuinely brilliant and original album. His sound is made even more endearing by the fact that he has put it all together purely for the love of making his music and the occasional crackle of a lomo bedroom recording set up adds to the chilled and upbeat atmosphere he's created on each song. Any way, enough of my descriptive bollox, the Album "Moving Plates" is up on his Bandcamp page here for sale at the price of what ever you want to give. He's also given us a couple of freebies to download below so get on the DL and see what you think.

Losing Streak Mp3

Night Time Parasite Mp3

Tony's Kicks -
Tony has sent us an image of his pair of Mercurial Nike footy boots. A hint toward his sporting past we think, with many a tail of coaching young boys past over to us at the pub table. (No.....Tone is a teacher for anyone with a sick mind). Anyway, nice to have something a little different to go with a slightly different DJ Sneaks.

Photobucket

Tony's Mix-
As we've stated, something a little different today. A throw back to the old ways of making a mix tape. We all remember when a mix tape meant putting together a selection of tracks in one place that would play one after the other without having to change the CD or for those of you old enough...the tape. I think these mix tapes, especially when passing them on to other people are the hardest to put together. Have a listen on the player below and get on over to Tony's Bandcamp page and buy his album for something a little different to the usual housey house to get you through the day.

DJ Sneaks #13 Kiwi - "The Summer Mix"

Going in hard with the DJ Sneaks mixes over the next few days as our couple of weeks off have meant a back log of superb mixes and delightful kicks pics have been piling up. We have something a little different to the usual house tip coming soon from singer/producer Tony Volker as well as a fresh take on the mix tapes of our yout from Artist and Graphics man HeyGus. But today a summer mixtual treat from DJ, Producer and all round club man Kiwi.

Kiwi (from New Cross and not New Zealand he states) has put together a smooth selection of "Honey infused vocals and shlomo grooves" which has been sound tracking my morning in the office rather nicely.

Photobucket

Kiwi aka Alex Warren is no new comer to the DJ walk of life with most of his time spent running his ongoing club night Orlando Boom as well as heading up bookings at one of our favorite Dalston rave pits The Nest. His recent bootleg rework alongside Joe & Will Ask? of Moloko "The time is now" has also been one of our choice grooves of the past few months. Get yourself over to his Soundcloud here for a listen.

Kiwi's Kicks-

A limited edition release of the Nike Air Max Structure Triax 91s here. Not too clued up myself on the Triax editions but am liking the colour way and it could even be the first low air max to temp me away from my love of the 90s and classic Air Max 1s. The pic he's sent over is pretty smooth as well..

Photobucket

Kiwi's Mix -

As I've already mentioned above, Kiwi describes this mix better than i ever could so i'll leave you with his words and let you ears do the er..........listening.

Kiwi kicks off a new residency at new party "Kate Boss" launching at the Nest on the 2nd September. scoot over to here for full deets.

DJ Sneaks #12 Mr Solid Gold + Trouble Vision Carnival Warm up Party

And we're back!

Sorry for the lack in posts over the past 2 weeks. We have been off
gallivanting in Croatia at the amazing Stop Making Sense Festival and what a time we had. Massive love to the Stop Making Sense crew for having us and the Trouble Vision family along. We'll be posting a little review with some pics, videos and hopefully the radio show we recorded live on the beach stage for London Fields Radio as soon as i can track it down.

So, on to today's latest DJ Sneaks mix from our very own Trouble Vision boss man Mr Solid Gold aka Christopher Gold.

The Kicks
A seriously fresh pair of Nike Air Max 1s have been hanging out on Mr Solid Gold's feet recently, all out black definitely looks good on the Air Max 1s, keeps them club fresh and are a little rarer than this summers in your face colour schemes in the same model. The pic below in standard Mr Solid Gold style snapped straight from the office on a right foot only tip as he's busily thinking up London's next club smashing line up.

In his words- " OK, So yeah the Air Max 1s offer premium comfort, while not sacrificing any style. Its a win win with these puppies."

Photobucket

The Mix
A true purveyor of sound and party, Mr Solid Gold has put together a selection of summer beauts.
I'll let you take in his words again for a wee bit of what it's all about.

"It's basically a selection of some of the tunes i've been playing over the summer, from grimey clubs to beautiful countryside. Recorded totally live (no monkey business) with some old and some new, its basically a real mixture."

Get on the Soundcloud Player below for a refreshing ear journey as well as the download link and track listing below that.

Alex Egan Pejhy Podcast No.10

A good mix can make the worst of days pass like any other, so when you find a blog or web site that consistently provides the tastiest of mixes on a regular basis it is definitely worth hitting up the old bookmark tab. Pejhy.com is most certainly one of these sites. We posted the Thick as Thieves Pejhy podcast a few months back and today we thought we'd hit you up with the latest offering.

Pejhy Podcast Number 10 comes from our long time pal Mr Alex Egan. Formerly of Skull Juice and modern club night legends Bloggers delight, Alex certainly knows his way around a record box. Over the past years we've observed Alex play some of the best sets at some of the most fun parties Robin and i have attended so its real good to see him back at it.

Anyway, get a listen to the 90 Minute mix on the player below and get on over to Pejhy.com and slip in that bookmark.

DJ Sneaks #11 Solo

Back from Secret Garden Party and broken does not do our condition justice. Such an amazing weekend and by far the best UK festival in my eyes, definitely a party that is not about the big names on the line up yet the music is as good as any other. Huge love to The Full Colour team and the guys at Team Love. We joined Mr Solid Gold and Park Ranger on both Friday and Saturday nights for a proper B2B session and a lot of fun was had. Love as well to all the people who came down to see us play. Definitely going back next year.

Now on to this little beauty from our Italian man about town, Solo.

As you may have heard before, Solo aka Stefano Ritteri is one of the nicest guys in dance music, he is also however one of the talented. With a schedule that seems to be get busier and busier as well as some unexpected projects in the pipe line for certain artists that i would be shot for letting out any info on, Solo is definitely doing things right.

Photobucket

With past releases on Dirty Bird, DeadFish and many more his back catalogue is certainly something to be proud of. His latest Ep "Midgets Go Deep" released on Lapsus music has kept the quality in step with it being a staple in our festival sets over the past few months.

And there's more to come. Solo is set to launch his own label "Congaloid" in the coming months and in celebration he has put the below mix together for DJ Mag as well as sending us a sneaks (well....not quite sneakers) shot over to make him number 11 in our DJ sneaks posts.

And in true Solo style the foot ware is definitely at the smoother end of the spectrum. He was in a hurry to get off so snapped the below and pinged us the mix link over but unfortunately we don't have too much info on the shoes themselves. This is what he did have to say.

"Yo, got some boat shoes on because I'm on the way to Ibiza, gonna sneak in some boat parties and i hate flip flops....you can't run away fast in flip flops."

Photobucket

Get on the mix below and download it to your tune pods. Catch Solo over the coming weeks at Hive - Zurich on the 29th July, Le Calypso Festival - Canet en Rousillon on the 30th July, The Egg - London on the 13th August and The Icon - Los Angeles USA on the 25th August. Check out his Facebook page here for more dates and info. You can also check out the DJ Mag article here

J. Phlip Mix for Farr Festival

Another big one out of the way, huge love to the Art Against Knives Sound system and all the Lovebox crew for what was a brilliant albeit wet weekend. See you next year!

Next up for us will be this coming weekend where we will be making an appearance in the Time Machine tent at Secret Garden Party. Set time is looking to be 1am on Sunday morning so hope to see you there!

Also coming up in the next 2 weeks and something we are really looking forward to is Farr festival in Bygrave Woods in Newham Hertfordshire. In its second year and set up for the sake of a noisey knees up and making a few quid for charity, this years Farr Festival is looking to be a seriously fun weekend.

Based just 30 minutes by train from central London and with ridiculously cheap ticket pricing it is definitely a session you should consider. The main party is taking place from early afternoon on Saturday right through until the early hours of Sunday with camping available on the Friday night as well, so you can prepare yourself mentally for a full on day when the gates open Saturday lunchtime.

Were hyped to be joining the line up alongside acts including Julio Bashmore, Graphics, Lee Foss, Ewan Pearson, Thick as Thieves and J.Phlip......... which brings us nicely on to todays mix.

Photobucket

Dirty bird first lady and seriously on the ball producer and DJ J.Phlip has put together the below as the latest in the Farr festival warm up mix series. Considered by Dirty Bird captain Claude Von Stroke as one of his favorite DJs, J.Phlip has proved her status as one of San Fransisco's top house music players. Make sure you get a listen to the below as J Phlip most definitely takes you on a journey through the Dirty Bird sound.

Tickets for Farr Festival are available here so get on over to the web site and have a butchers.

Commonphase Delft Mix

A new mix today sent over from our Belgian brothers from other mothers Commonphase.

Commonphase are Yves Massignani and Niek Kosten, two Belgium based DJs and purveyors of quality house music parties. We met the guys a few years back on the hook up recommendation of DJ and Italian all round nice guy Solo who said we should definitely check out what they have going on. We were not disappointed. Yves and Niek have been working hard over the past few years to bring an element of class to the dance party scene in Belgium, consistently booking top house acts and putting them on in venues ranging from super club style dance floors to gritty intimate rave pits and always managing to pull off top events.

Photobucket Photo by Jan Vandevyver

We joined them last year in Leuven Belgium for one of their regular events Temposphere and had one hell of a night (unlimited Stella due to the brewery being just down the street was a cheeky bonus), the guys also know how to get a crowd bouncing with forthcoming DJ Sets across Europe and one hell of a set laid down at our Superfilth closing party back in March.

Check out their latest mixtual on the Soundcloud player below, a superb selection of house and bass with a Belgian twist. Download link also on the player so you can crack it on your pods.

DJ-Kicks from MCDE out now.

Nothing on the free download front today or related to actual kicks or our DJ Sneaks mix series, just a recommendation to go out and buy something well worth your hard earned cash. Every now and again a mix CD is released that is really worth your dollar and The DJ Kicks series from K7 seems to nail this purchase piece every time.

Photobucket

The latest in the series coming from Stuttgart's Danilo Plessow AKA Motor City Drum Ensemble, and as this mix shows Danilo is one hell of a quality DJ and producer. We had had the pleasure of meeting him and checking out his set at Trouble Vision a few months back and we can also say he is one hell of a nice guy.

Photobucket

His DJ kicks brings together a collection of his standardly quality house selections as well as keeping things in with the "classic DJ Kicks" mix style seamlessly incorporating elements of Jazz, reggae and afrobeat. Popped this mix on the player for the first time a few days ago and i can't take it off. One of the most refreshing mixes I've heard in a while. Pick up your copy from the web site here as well as in all good record shops and download stores.

We've posted a couple of the opening choice gems and MCDE's own track L.O.V.E. from YouTube below and the mix track listing below that to entice you even more. There is also a DJ Kicks Ep as part of the release featuring two of MCDEs own productions from the mix available on digital release now and forth coming on 12" (Also on K7 Records). Have a listen and go buy them if you have a few spare pennies.

Also, for the Loveboxing crew, catch him this Saturday in the NYC Downlow stage.

Lovebox Classic House Mix

Another treat from the boys at Lovebox today, and this time it is a selection of classic Lovebox party tunes from the box of Hot Blood member and Lovebox originator Jools Butterfield ( I've inserted a "recent" picture of the man himself below).

Photobucket

Jools certainly knows his house music and this mix certainly backs up that claim. Lovingly spliced together by our previous Lovebox mix supplier and fellow originator Andy Williams.

Jools has stepped up proper style as the selector extraordinaire on this one and as he puts it this is a mix where every track featured has most definitely "stood the test of time". Featuring cuts from Nuphonic, Strictly Rhythm and many others this is one for the real house heads.

For anyone lucky enough to have tickets for Lovebox festival taking place next weekend (15th, 16th 17th of July) you are definitely in for a blinding session. Tickets have been flying with only Friday and Sunday day tickets left. Get your self over to the website here and grab them before they are all gone!

Catch me and Robin on the Saturday afternoon at the Art Against Knives van and come say hello. We'll be rolling out our summers finest and with the stage being for a very good charity and the fact it is an open air sound system decked out with function one noise blurters it is looking to be a goodun!

Get on the mix download on the Soundcloud player below and get with the hype and we'll hopefully see you at the Box!

Mid week tunage

Mid week boredom has set in hard however the weekend is almost upon us so there is light at the end of tunnel.

Just a couple of tunes for you to listen to today to lift your spirits and get your leg shake on. One old one new. The first is a classic from Cobblestone Jazz "Dumptruck". Been far too long since we've played this in our sets and a tiny synth bleep in our second tune of the day reminded me of the tracks greatness and has made me promise myself it will go back in the sets for the upcoming month of party.

Bringing us nicely on to our second tune of the day and new comer track piece to the party is this superb release from Maceo Plex "Falling". Heard this on Joe Ransoms Kiss show on Thursday night but due to my sieve like memory it had slipped my mind, fortunately Dr Solid Gold aka Mr Trouble Vision himself was good enough to crack this on his Facebook wall to remind me of the importance of alerting people to this future summer classic!

The Mp3 is forthcoming on the Visionquest label (or out now on 12" in all good stores). Falling is the opener for the Visionquest Beach Spring Summer 2011 Ep and a seeeeeriously groove ridden summer slice of laid back pie. Have a listen below and go buy it.

Oli D.A.B & Robin Presents On London Fields Radio Vol 2

Trying to keep this one as regular as we can so made our way up to the Wilton Way Cafe/London Fields radio studio on Saturday afternoon to put together our latest presents show for London Fields Radio.

As before, just a nice selection of tracks we're really enjoying at the moment with a bit of random chat from myself and Robin about the music, things we are looking forward to in the oncoming festival ridden months as well as some other pointless waffle. The coffee in that place really is good.

Photobucket

Have a listen on the Mixcloud player below and head over to their main Mixcloud page here and check out some of the other shows. Our next show (Vol 3) will hopefully be recorded in August with a few special guests involved so please spread the love and retweet, repost and play it out loud for all your peoples.
